For those of you not into football, there was a big game recently, and being Saints fans living in San Francisco, the 49ners game was best spent at home... boiling up some crabs and eating shrimp. We decided to cook southern style in honor of the saints playing. We found a new seafood place out in the Sunset called Sunset Super. We initially wanted blue crabs, but when they were sold out we went with dungeness crabs... huge, very alive and only $5 a pound! We filled a stockpot up with yummy seasoning, old bay, cayenne etc, and we boiled away. The shrimp were peel and eat, we boiled up mini potatoes, corn, and of course some spicy sausage. After pulling those out and dumping them onto some newspaper, we threw the live gigantic crabs into the boiling flavorful water. Let the shellfish feast begin! It was very hands on, and very delicious. My kind of way to spend watching a football game, elbows deep in delicious sweet crab, and peel and eat shrimp. And although the Saints lost, we still enjoyed a feast, southern style! Happy Eating!
